AMERICAN AIRLINES REVERSES COURSE, GAINS PERSPECTIVE, NOW SUPPORTS TROOPS

American Airlines announced today that it will not charge fees to military personnel for a third piece of checked baggage.  This reverses their original policy of charging not only military personnel, but the taxpayer.

HEY AHMADINEJAD, IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!

You know you are in trouble when those clerics throw you under the bus.  Seems the President of Iran is in the hot seat over his economy.

Don't worry little fella, we'll send James Carville right over.  He's a great good political advisor that can help you realize, 'It's the economy, stupid!'.

WHO COULD BE MORE APOLITICAL THAN JULIA CHILD?

NOT!

Tomorrow it will be revealed that the late chef and television personality was a member of the secretive WWII precursor to the CIA, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS).  No joke!  The revelation of a secret that has been held for more than a half century will occur in less than 24 hours and Julia Child's name is included on a list of OSS members who helped spy for the U.S. during WWII and defeat the Nazis.

I always liked her.  Don't like cooking much and could never figure out why I liked her .......... but always did.  Now I know why.

IDIOT OF THE DAY AWARD GOES TO: AMERICAN AIRLINES

American Airlines is charging troops for their extra baggage, a practice that forces soldiers heading for a war zone in Iraq to try to get reimbursement from the military.  [Washington Times]

American Airlines, of course, has a rational response.  They claim that, soldiers, in their free-time, can fill out expense reports to the U.S. military (and taxpayer) and get reimbursed for charges which can approach $200 or $300, or more.

I have an idea.  How about the U.S. soldier going on strike against keeping things safe and secure for airlines to conduct commerce?  How far does an airline like American Airlines get financially if travel comes to halt because of global unrest?

American Airlines wants to charge the consumer for individual services?  Fine.  Go right ahead.  It is a competitive industry.

American Airlines wants to charge struggling and already sacrificing soldiers for their required gear they must travel with?  Sickening.  Stop that nonsense.

American Airlines justifies their gaff  by saying  'no big deal, it's the military and taxpayer we are charging'.  Stupid.  I say get out some handcuffs and haul some American Airlines' policy makers to jail.  Tell them they are limited to one carry-on per cell.
